about us

nest interior design is run by Lucy Burt and Ceri Murray. Nest was initially set up by Lucy in 2003 and became a partnership when Ceri joined in 2011.

My background is in International Studies & Languages which I studied way back when at Leeds University. I then went on to work in Internet Communications in London, gaining valuable experience in managing customer and supplier relations, project management and running teams.

Having made the decision to turn a long-standing interest in Interiors into a career, I retrained in Interior Design & Decoration at Chelsea College of Arts and have never looked back. Over 10 years later and I still feel very lucky to have a job I love. Our projects are so varied, working with different clients and contractors all the time means there is always something new to learn and there is never a dull day.

Outside of work, I live in Sale with my husband, two children, a neurotic tabby and a newly acquired puppy. We are usually found on walks, in the park or on the sidelines of my son’s football team.

I originally studied Fine Art (painting) at Manchester Metropolitan University. Following that I went on to work in London for one of the original internet providers working my way up to being their Operations Manager. This is where I met and became friends with Lucy. After four years in London I decided it was time to head back North where I retrained as a solicitor specialising in family law.

After taking time off to raise a family I decided it was time to return to my original and continuing passion, Art & Design. When the opportunity arose to become a partner at Nest, I jumped at it and things have since gone from strength to strength. Running my own business and being an Interior Designer allows me to combine my strong business, project and organisational skills with my artistic flair and love of interiors.

I live in Sale with my husband, two boys and the family pet, a much loved rescue dog from Manchester Dogs Home, when I do get some time to myself I enjoy running regularly and ran the Preston Guild Marathon in 2012.
